Elizabeth Gilfilen received her MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and her BFA in Fine Arts from D.A.A.P. at the University of Cincinnati. Recent solo exhibitions include Reynolds Gallery, Richmond, VA (2018); Fred Giampietro Gallery, New Haven, CT (2014); The Hunterdon Art Museum, Clinton, NJ (2012); Gallery Aferro, Newark, NJ (2011) and John Davis Gallery, Hudson, NY (2010). Selected group exhibition venues include Morgan Lehman Gallery, New York, NY; Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, New York, NY; Durden & Ray, Los Angeles, CA; TWFineArt, Brisbane, Australia; Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT; the Islip Art Museum, East Islip, NY and The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY; among others. Awards include a Yaddo residency, The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop SIP Fellowship, The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation Space Program Grant, a Gallery Aferro Studio Residency, the Alijra Emerge Fellowship and The Bronx Museum of Art AIM Program. She has lectured on her work at institutions including Virginia Commonwealth University and The Jersey City Art Museum. Her work has been reviewed in many publications including Two Coats of Paint, The New Criterion, The Boston Globe, The Newark Star-Ledger and The New York Times. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
